Privacy notice
This notice explains how BTC Horizon handles personal data. The controller is Marcos Mendes, an individual based in Portugal, reachable at [email protected].
Data collected
If you register interest, BTC Horizon stores your email address, selected feature interest, consent time, confirmation and unsubscribe state, notice version, signup time, and available signup attribution such as campaign labels, landing path, or referring page. Scenario Studio additionally stores your account email, verification time, saved scenario names and targets, immutable journal observations, email preferences, and delivery records. Sign-in tokens are stored as hashes and expire after 20 minutes. Server and security logs may contain an IP address, request path, timestamp, browser information, and security events. Correspondence is retained when you contact the project. There are no advertising profiles or third-party analytics. If you use billing, we store Stripe customer and subscription identifiers, subscription status and paid period, checkout consent time and terms version, and withdrawal requests. Stripe collects payment and billing details in its hosted checkout; BTC Horizon does not receive your full card number.
Scenario Studio
Account and journal data is processed to provide the research service you request. Essential session cookies keep you signed in and protect forms. Daily briefings and scenario alerts require a separate opt-in and can be stopped from account preferences or the stop-email link in each message. Scenario emails are separate from interest-list research updates. Archived scenarios remain in your journal until you request account deletion. Contact the operator for an account export or deletion; private scenario data can be deleted without changing the public forecast record. Account data is retained while you use the service, and reviewed for deletion after 24 months of inactivity.
Payments
Billing data is used to provide the subscription you request, manage access, prevent duplicate charges, and meet applicable accounting obligations. Stripe processes payment details under its own privacy notice and applicable transfer safeguards. Billing and withdrawal records may need to be retained after account closure to meet legal obligations; the operator will explain any retained records when handling a deletion request.
Purposes and legal bases
Interest-list data is processed with your consent to assess demand and contact you about BTC Horizon. You may withdraw consent at any time without affecting earlier lawful processing. Essential server and security logs are processed for the legitimate interests of operating, protecting, debugging, and preventing abuse of the service.
Cookies and local storage
BTC Horizon does not currently use advertising or analytics cookies. An essential session cookie may preserve first-party campaign attribution until an interest form is submitted, and essential cookies may also be used for security, form protection, and private staging access. If optional analytics or marketing technology is added, this notice and the consent controls will be updated first.
Recipients and transfers
Infrastructure providers may process limited data to host, route, protect, monitor, back up, or deliver email for the service. Current providers can include Akamai Linode, Cloudflare, Better Stack, GitHub, and Amazon Web Services. Some processing may occur outside the European Economic Area under the providers’ applicable transfer safeguards. Personal data is not sold.
Retention
Interest registrations are kept for no longer than 24 months unless you withdraw sooner or an ongoing relationship justifies an updated notice. Contact correspondence is normally kept for up to 24 months. Web access logs are normally rotated after 14 days and application logs after 30 days, unless a security incident or legal obligation requires longer retention.
Your rights
Subject to the GDPR, you may request access, correction, deletion, restriction, portability, or objection, and may withdraw consent. Send requests to [email protected]. Identity may need to be verified. You may also lodge a complaint with Portugal’s data protection authority, the Comissão Nacional de Proteção de Dados (CNPD).
Automated decisions
BTC Horizon generates market forecasts, but it does not make automated decisions about individuals that produce legal or similarly significant effects.
